Time–saving tips
Get organized!
Save time with a tidy desktop
ONE OF THE BEST ways to speed your workflow on your Mac is to keep your desktop tidy and organized.
1 Stage Manager
A
neat way to keep your focus on what you’re doing and not on the mess you’re making on your desktop is Stage Manager. Click on the Control Center item in the menu bar (it looks like two horizontal switches) and then click the Stage Manager icon. Open apps are stacked on the left of the screen, allowing you to focus on what it is you’re working on.
2 Mission Control
Another way of dealing with messy desktop windows is with Mission Control. Tap F3 on the keyboard or swipe up on a Trackpad with three fingers, and all open windows are shown without overlapping. Click on one to bring it to the front.
3 Desktop spaces
Open Mission Control (F3) and move your pointer to the top of the screen for Spaces. Click the “+” button in the top–right corner to add a new space, which you can use as additional desktops. Simply drag the pointer over a desktop thumbnail and click the “X” that appears to close one. Full–screen apps are also shown here. Swipe right or left with three fingers on your trackpad to cycle through the available desktops.
