iPhone tips & tricks
Tantalizing time–savers on your smartphone
THERE ARE MANY handy shortcuts you can use on your iPhone to get things done quicker and easier.
Here’s a selection of them.
1 Music
You can control your music from the Control Center, without opening the Music app. Use the top–right widget to play and pause, skip tracks and tap the AirPlay icon (contentric circles) to pick an output. Tap the widget for more controls.
2 Torch
Another Control Center feature, the iPhone’s torch uses the camera flash LEDs. In iOS 18, you can set the width and strength of the beam.
3 Wallet
If you want to use your Wallet app to pay for goods and services, there’s a quick way of opening it. Just press your iPhone’s side button twice. This also works on the Apple Watch.
4 Siri
Instead of saying “Siri” or “Hey, Siri” to open the digital assistant, you can do so by pressing and holding the iPhone’s side button.
You can change the order of most items in Control Center using the handles on the right of this page.
