MATT BOLTON thinks the Mac has become boring when it comes to software, but maybe that’s just the arc of the universe
PERHAPS I AM in the minority, but it’s been a long time since I was excited about anything happening with Apple’s software on the Mac. Hardware, sure: the M–series chips have obviously been a seismic event, and the miniLED screens on the new MacBook Pros are gorgeous. But even the M–series chips didn’t enable new software that thrills me. The biggest change made possible there was having iOS apps on the Mac, and this didn’t exactly get me jumping on the couch, Tom Cruise–style.
