Who’s up for some carnal liberation? In a burst of gruelling heavy metal and glistening theatricality, Dogma are luring listeners into their lair of sensual salvation. The nun quartet’s debut absolutely oozes sin, resulting in a ridiculously melodramatic, power metal-tinged triumph. Documenting a fall from grace, the initially angelic, butter-wouldn’t-melt innocence of opener Forbidden Zone is quickly purged. As they stray further from purity, the sound is consumed by ravenous instrumentals; My First Peak’s filthy riffs and moans feed into the flurrying, lustful Made Her Mine, as the nun-gonerogue seduces others in her convent. From the feather-light Be Free to the gloriously anthemic Father I Have Sinned, Dogma is a glorious, diverse howl of tongue-in-cheek heresy.
