Will the Oldenburg set sail?
Chris Leigh has been ruminating on one of his (many) unfinished projects…
I’ve often said that I like anything man-made that moves, so trains and boats and planes, I love them all. Readers may remember my model of the dredger Wallbrook which I built, and George weathered, back in September 2017. Well, prior to that I had indulged my love of ships with a trip from Ilfracombe to Lundy Island, back in 2008. The Lundy supply ship and passenger ferry is the MS Oldenburg, built for the German Federal Railways in 1958. She’s a beautiful little vessel but, having been built for sheltered waters, she rolls a bit in the Atlantic swell once beyond the shelter of Hartland Point.
