FUSSY ABOUT SIGNALS
I’ve always considered that the correct use of signals is essential on a model railway, after all, we are trying to recreate reality. That means not just the main signals, but also the subsidiary calling-on and shunting signals, and catch points if there’s no headshunt, wherever sidings meet the main lines.
I’ve used various makes of signals on my ‘OO’ gauge end-to-end layout. The semaphores are by Dapol (with a fixed Ratio distant added on), while the best colour lights I’ve found have been from CR Signals in Rotherham, which I’ve linked together through the switches, so that three aspects will automatically clear to yellow or green, according to the next signal.
