It was in mid-2014 that my co-director Mike Hale and I decided to team up to crowdfund an ‘N’ gauge model of the Class 390 ‘Pendolino’ trains operated by Virgin on the West Coast Main Line.
At the time, Dapol had just confirmed that it was cancelling its proposed model, and both Mike and I felt that, to be taken seriously, ‘N’ gauge should be able to justify a decent model of what was, at the time, Britain’s premier high ‐speed express train.
