Life always feels better when Class 40 models are in production, and Bachmann’s upgraded version of the English Electric Type 4 has been promised for a while.
Five new models have arrived this summer, all but one depicting disc headcode versions of the ‘Whistlers’, in various BR green and Rail blue livery options. The odd one out is Rail blue 40063, complete with square-edged centre headcode boxes, which were unique to certain Scottish Region ‘40s’ and is something hitherto unavailable in RTR form.
