Welcome
A surprise sighting of a special train always seems to feel, well, even more special! Having waved off my wife at Carlisle station recently, some tell-tale activity by enthusiasts suggested that something unusual was afoot. A quick chat with a young man toting a camera revealed that a ‘Jubilee’ was heading towards the ‘Citadel’ city, off the Settle-Carlisle route. So, I fortified myself with a hot drink and set myself to wait the hour or so until it arrived, with a couple of passing freight trains providing some welcome entertainment.
