Following on from the intimate, string-laden indie roots reflections on …Photograph, Morby still felt there was unfinished work here. Instead of mere demos and outtakes, however, Morby presents a kind of Sliding Doors version of the original, with three tracks re-imagined and renamed, plus six new numbers. Of the re-recordings, Five Easy Pieces Revisited is the most beguiling, turning the whooping original into a laid-back sunset ballad. The new tracks, however, range from the bluesy Lion Tamer, sweet childhood dream of Mickey Mantle’s Autograph, heart-stopping love on Katie and an unlikely namecheck for the TR7 sports car on Triumph. An epic and glorious rerun of Morby’s high-water mark to date.
