MARTIN SCORSESE is a music nut, we all know that by now. But he’s a particular kind of music nut. The music in his movies has a sense of remembrance of things past but also a sense of being lost or out-of-place. There’s some of that feeling in Scorsese’s latest excellent music film. Co-directed by David Tedeschi, with whom he worked on The Rolling Thunder Revue and No Direction Home, its subject is David Johansen, the New York singer and former New York Doll.
