VISITORS to Tobermory Bay had quite a surprise last weekend when an invasion of Coastguard volunteers began to ‘move’ a whale from the beach, writes Louise Glen.
Thankfully the whale was a pretend one and the event was a training course for HM Coastguard rescue teams from across Argyll and the Islands who had convened in Tobermory for the annual maritime training and exercising weekend.
The training started with a minute’s silence for colleagues involved in the recent incident off the Irish west coast.
