PLANS to build a sand and gravel quarry at Glasdrum in Glen Creran have been quashed after the Scottish Government rejected the appeal on Tuesday.
The original application, which was unanimously refused by councillors, received 1,359 public objections, including Appin, Archattan, Duror and Kentallen community councils.
This led the applicant, A&L McCrae, to lodge an appeal with the Scottish Government. But the government reporter said: ‘Taking all matters into account, I conclude that the proposed development does not accord overall with the relevant provisions of the development plan and that there are no material considerations which would still justify granting planning permission.’
