Love for Linux
I loved your Linux distros test (see issue 380, p82) as I have two PCs that are still on Windows 10 and can’t be upgraded to Windows 11. However, while reading the reviews, it dawned on me that Nik’s test rig has got 32GB of memory, which he says is a “conservative” eight-year-old spec.
The first non-compatible PC is my Surface Go, which has only 8GB of RAM. And who knows how much RAM the Intel NUC I bought my parents in 2015 has. If I can’t put Linux on it they’ll need a new PC, replacing a perfectly good one that does everything they want.
So is it worth me trying to get Linux on these PCs, or does the lack of RAM make it a waste of time?
Keep up the good work with the magazine – as a micro business owner a lot of it goes totally over my head, but there are really useful snippets of information in there to help keep me informed – and I love the humour!
