Custom functions to beat exposure problems
Configure your camera to override your chosen settings and achieve a good exposure
As you follow the action and zoom in to the subject, safety shift maintains the exposure by raising the ISO to adapt to change in aperture
If like many photographers you shoot in Aperture Priority, you’ll know that your camera sets the shutter speed for a correct exposure for your given aperture. In most situations this is easy as the wide range of shutter speeds allow a good exposure almost regardless of the selected aperture. It’s only when you shoot with a fast aperture lens wideopen in bright light that you might run in to the limitation of 1/4000 sec or 1/8000 sec shutter speed, especially if you’re not using Auto ISO. Shooting in Shutter Priority is similar, but the range of adjustment in lens aperture is less than shutter speed, so there’s more chance that your action freezing shutter speed will need the lens aperture to open beyond the maximum.
