ROKA restaurants introduce vegan tasting menu
Japanese-inspired restaurant chain ROKA have launched a vegan tasting menu, which neatly coincided with World Meat Free Week in June. The tasting menu is gluten-free, and is aimed at those who have previously enjoyed fish and meat sushi or robata dishes. The new tasting menu has allowed the chefs to experiment with an exciting variety of different textures and flavours.
Starters, mains and desserts include: grilled tofu with shiitake mushrooms, lemon and chilli; rice toban with Japanese mushrooms, mountain vegetables and shaved truffle; and a peanut, vanilla and chocolate sundae with poki sticks and banana tempura.
The menu is available at all four of their London restaurants, in Charlotte Street, Aldwych, Mayfair and Canary Wharf. The vegan tasting menu is priced at £50 per person and it is served daily for lunch until 3pm and as part of the dinner menu until 11pm.
Califia Farms FARMS launch new vegan iced coffees
US brand Califia Farms have launched three new vegan iced coffees in UK Sainsbury’s stores. Some of the leading iced coffees in the market contain over 10 teaspoons of sugar per serving; however, the new Califia Farms products offer a fraction of that. Califia Farms have reduced their sugar content down from 1.4g per ounce to 0.8g per ounce, in line with consumer requests for lower sugar drinks.
Califia Farms CEO and Founder Greg Steltenpohl spoke about the new products, saying: “As consumers have increasingly asked for lower sugar in the foods and beverages they consume, Califia has not only met, but exceeded, that demand – while continually innovating on great taste.”
All of the Califia Farms products are soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, carrageenan-free, non-GMO, kosher, vegan and BPA-free. The three new products include a Mocha Cold Brew Coffee, Chocolate Coconut Almond Blend and Multi-Serve ‘Pure Black’ Cold Brew Coffee.
