TALK TALK
The Very Best Of Talk Talk RHINO
Respectful reshuffle for Talk Talk treasury.
So it turns out this 1997 compilation, good as it was, wasn’t technically the very best of Talk Talk. Now reissued as a gatefold double vinyl (or CD), the tracks have been placed in chronological order, better telling the story of the group’s remarkable evolution. Also, the absence of representation for the final album Laughing Stock has been rectified. New Grass is now included. That’s a phenomenal piece of music, though the downside is that cult favourite John Cope, a fragile former B-side, is quietly dropped. Nitpicking aside, this is a tremendous collection of songs, psalms and soulful sonic experiments from 10 years (1981-91) of tender testimony.
