Norway’s Is It Jazz? label lives up to its name with this enticing offering a band formed by three graduates from Bergen’s Grieg Academy. This We Know filters bluegrass and folk through a prism of jazz improvisation. While that blurring of boundaries suggests Bill Frissell’s Guitar In The Space Age album or John Scofield’s Country For Old Men, the wide-open sound of Amund Nordstrøm’s drums and Øystein Høynes’ double bass expresses the trio’s jazz proclivities.
