Plans have been submitted to Highland Council for planning permission to convert Polnish Chapel at Lochailort into a private house.
Built around 1872, it is understood it has not been a place of worship since around 1986. Planning approval was previously granted in 2001 for conversion to a house and for a draining system in 2004, but neither approval was implemented and both have now lapsed. The planning application states the current owners are ‘very aware’ of the building’s history and local importance, and are keen to carry out a ‘sensitive conversion with minimal intervention’. Oban architects Bruce and Neil will design the conversion.
