The stakes are high in Matt Bennion’s incoming Mega Drive dungeon crawler Crypt Of Dracula
“It started as a simple port of the ZX Spectrum game Tomb Of Dracula, which I played a lot as a kid,” explains Matt about his new game. “The engine takes inspiration from
Shining In The Darkness and
Doom; puzzle mechanics take inspiration from RPGs and
Chip’s Challenge, while
Castlevania and
Resident Evil are an inspiration too.” Matt tells us
Crypt Of Dracula is created with Visual Studio Code together with Stephane Dallongeville’s Sega Genesis Development Kit (SGDK). Currently, the dungeons are randomly generated, but Matt is thinking of switching to pre-generated levels.
