It remains a shocking injustice that
Black
never received a sequel because it’s arguably one of the best first-person shooters on Sony’s console.
While
Black
’s story isn’t the best, it excels in brilliantly designed levels, satisfying gunplay and some truly sensational setpieces. It may be short and lack any sort of multiplayer, but the exceptional level design, additional objectives on higher difficulty levels and outrageous destruction you can cause on each stage ensures that Criterion’s game is one you’ll always want to return to.
