We double-checked the calendar to be sure, but it really has been 25 years since the most popular console of all time finally made it to shelves.So, there’s only one thing to do – reminisce about the PlayStation 2.

I don’t think I remember any console having more pre-launch hype than the PlayStation 2. What were your first impressions of the console?
DARRAN
The hype was ridiculous to be fair. I don’t know about the Emotion Engine, but taking all the interest away from the Dreamcast certainly made me pretty emotional.
TIM
Mostly that the graphics were so much better. All the screenshots in the magazines looked amazing and I had to have one.
NICK
I’d seen the Tekken tech demo with Paul and Jin in a proper 3D arena, encircled by spectators, and Tekken Tag Tournament felt disappointing. The infinite floors didn’t feel like they met the backgrounds nicely at all, and it was really jarring.
