There’s more to a shooting game than just lining up the perfect headshot – there’s also a sense of rhythm to how the action is choreographed in your movement, which feels especially true for the new Doom games.
Metal: Hellsinger runs with this idea in the foreground, as a first-person shooter that asks you to slay hordes of demons to the beat of pounding death metal. A metronome is visible on the edges of your crosshairs so you know when to pull the trigger to better pump your shots. It helps that some of the weapons have their own unique rhythmic rate of fire.
