THIS YEAR OUR PRACTICE LOST a beautiful vibrant young mum to cervical cancer at the age of just 27. It was devastating for all concerned. Erika’s family have been incredibly strong and are keen for me to tell her story in the hope that we can raise awareness of symptoms to look out for and not allow to go ignored.

Erika had abnormal vaginal bleeding, which was thought to be related to her contraceptive pill. None of the doctors looking after her suspected cancer because she’d had a recent normal cervical smear. Her story is, thankfully, very rare but it’s a solemn reminder that unexplained vaginal bleeding must always be investigated.
