Kia EV5
LATE EARLY2025 2026
Electric family SUV seeks to mirror the success of the combustion-engined Sportage, as a rival to the Skoda Enyaq and Tesla Model Y
EV5 follows the clean lines of the bigger EV9 inside, and it’s tuned for comfort on move
GIVEN THAT THE Kia Sportage is consistently towards the top of the UK’s bestsellers list, it would have been understandable if the South Korean brand had simply electrified its proven family SUV. But no; the EV5 is an entirely separate entity with a chunky style that hat-tips Kia’s bigger EV9.
The EV5’s name clearly states where it slots into the line-up: above the smaller EV4 and below the EV6.The first version to reach the UK will have a 78kWh (usable capacity) battery that officially takes the EV5 up to 329 miles. That’s competitive, but not quite as far as some rivals can go; the Skoda Enyaq manages up to 360 miles, and the Tesla Model Y promises up to 391 miles.
