Polestar 5
SPRING
Range-topping electric grand tourer is the first bespoke Polestar model, packing up to 821bhp in Performance form
FEW CARS ARE actually ‘all new’. Instead, they tend to be based on mechanicals that are borrowed from other cars – and even other brands. But the Polestar 5 is different.
While all of the Polestars we’ve seen to date are related to models from Volvo or the pair’s Chinese owner, Geely, the 5 was effectively developed from the ground up at Polestar’s UK research and development centre in Coventry.
In Long Range form, the resulting electric vehicle (EV) can officially travel for up to 416 miles between charges of its 106kWh (usable capacity) battery. What’s more, this feeds two electric motors, which pump out a combined 737bhp – enough for 0-62mph in 3.9sec.
