mymo
We put mymo, a new wearable tech, under the spotlight to find out how it helps you select the right running shoe for you, preventing injury as a result
Words Tina Chantrey
Founded by Craig Downs, mymo is short for ‘my motion’ and its goal is to help you understand your gait and how your foot transitions during exercise. “I visited my local running store and spoke to a salesperson but the shoes they recommended weren’t right for me, and I ended up getting injured,” Craig told us. “While I was out injured, I thought there must be something on the market that you could buy which would help runners, like me, to find the right shoes, and there wasn’t.”
The running shoe market is extremely complex and confusing, with thousands of new shoe models and different technologies on sale. “To buy the right type of shoes, you need to understand your running gait, but why do you have to go into a running store or clinic to do this?” asks Craig. “Not only is it inconvenient, particularly during the pandemic, but people sometimes like to shop online. I created mymo to provide a solution to all of this.”
Let AI do the thinking
mymo measures your gait and uses an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm to match your running style to the latest shoes on the market.
What you’re getting from mymo is quick and instant access to real-time gait data and a quick link to all the latest shoes suitable for your running style. It replaces traditional in-store gait assessments and you can use it as many times as you like in the comfort of your own environment; at home, in the gym, at the park or down at the track.
