HOW I TRAIN
Natasha Cockram
Welsh runner Natasha Cockram is the British marathon champion as well as Welsh marathon record holder
What’s the hardest race you’ve ever done?
Probably my first marathon in Dublin 2017. I hadn’t prepared well and was still sore from a mountain race the week before. I was clueless about taking on gels and nutrition so really hit the wall with eight miles to go. Despite this being one of my hardest races, it was what made me realise I wanted to focus on the marathon.
Where’s your favourite place to train?
Prior to moving to Norfolk, my favourite route was a half-mile lap around a reservoir in the countryside. So many people still don’t understand how or why this was my favourite spot to work out. Some Sundays I’d do 40 laps for my long run but I just never got bored of it. .
