THE HISTORY OF RMR
8 years and counting…
Run Mummy Run is the longest established online women’s running community of its kind. This is its journey
DECEMBER 2012
Leanne Davies, looking for a way to connect with other women runners after having her second baby, creates a small Facebook group of just three members, called Mums on the Run UK.
SEPTEMBER 2013
As the group grows and starts to attract women from all over the country, the Run Mummy Run name is born, inspired by founder Leanne and the motivational placards held up by children cheering on their mums in races.
NOVEMBER 2013
Run Mummy Run (RMR) holds its first in-person event at a pub in London. 50 women from all over the UK gather together to listen to inspiring speakers, including Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach. Run Mummy Run also launches its first-ever piece of community kit – a black running t-shirt – which sells out instantly.
NOVEMBER 2013
Leanne expands the running kit being sold on the RMR website. Her main goal is to offer an all-inclusive range of sizes so that all women feel comfortable and confident when they run.
APRIL 2014
Run Mummy Run receives its first Gold accolade at The Running Awards for Best Community, a title it goes on to win again in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
