Have you tried recovery footwear? If you haven’t, you would be forgiven for thinking it’s a bit of a luxury, or an optional extra for ‘proper’ athletes. And that was what some of us thought, too, until we tried it for ourselves. But here’s the thing: slip your feet into a pair of recovery shoes from OOFOS after a long run and your feet won’t know what’s hit them.
We spoke to Paul Brown, co-founder and Executive Director of OOFOS, about how they developed the technology and why it’s so good for runners. “Myself and my three other partners [used to work at] Nike, Adidas and Reebok. Having all that experience of what was happening in the athletic market – run faster, jump higher – made us think about what you do when you stop, when you need to recover. It was a different approach. Instead of having a material that was resilient, we needed a material that absorbed.
