GEORGIA HUNTER
Fitting writing in around family life is all a question of prioritising for Georgia Hunter, she tells Lynne Hackles
My Writing day
Lynne Hackles
Georgia Hunter lives and works in a town situated on Connecticut’s Long Island Sound. The We Were The Lucky Ones author describes herself as a self-employed mom. ‘It’s easy to put things like laundry and grocery shopping ahead of a writing deadline,’ she says. ‘Sometimes I’ll waste an afternoon checking “chores” off my list instead of prioritising my work. Then I remind myself that we’ve never run out of clean clothes and that a meal delivered from the local Thai restaurant makes for a lovely dinner.
‘Once my son is off to school, my days vary. I’m most productive in the mornings so try to carve out 9-12 for writing new content, and the afternoons for editing, blogging, and catching up with social media. As a working parent things often come up (sick days, snow days, doctor’s visits) and my plans for the day disintegrate.
