Drinking, thinking and inkling
A historic Oxford pub, The Lamb and Flag, which was a favourite watering hole of The Inklings – CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Charles Williams and other writers in their circle – which was closed in January 2021 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, reopened in October. The 17th century pub has been revived by The Inklings Group, a community interest company named after the famous literary group which once made it one of their main meeting places. The group has obtained a long-term lease on the property, which was once also frequented by Thomas Hardy. They released a statement saying:
