WRITERS’ CIRCLES
HOME TRUTH
Think about what home means in these writing group exercises from Julie Phillips
Julie Phillips
For this month’s round of writing activities we are going to think about the different types of buildings people might have lived in in the past and now: houses, flats, tree house, yurt, caravan, mobile home, motor home, etc. There’s no place like home and it’s not all down to the bricks and mortar. Think of the meaning of phrases like home is where the heart is, wherever I lay my hat, that’s my home, there’s no place like home. But home means different things to different people – not always positive – from the rose-tinted nostalgic memories of our childhood home, to the joy and excitement of moving into a new place. It means there is plenty of potential conflict and inspiration for whatever you write.
