Remembering Hamnet
The first memorial for Hamnet and Judith, the twin children of William Shakespeare, was unveiled on 7 May in Trinity Church, Stratford upon-Avon, home of the Bard. The memorial consists of two rowan trees planted in the churchyard. Trinity is famed as ‘Shakespeare’s Church’ – it is where the playwright, his wife, Anne Hathaway, and all three of their children, including the first daughter, Susanna, are buried. Shakespeare himself was baptised there and was a member of the church.
