NEW AUTHOR PROFILE
There can’t be many authors who can claim to have been inspired by the sight of their dog carrying what appeared to be a human spine in its mouth. But Peak District writer Roz Watkins did, with her debut novel The Devil’s Dice published by HQ/Harper Collins and Fischer Verlag in Germany in March.
When a lawyer is found dead in a Peak District cave, his face covered in scratches, DI Meg Dalton makes a startling discovery: the man’s initials are carved in the cave walls – and have been there over a century. Locals blame a curse dating back to the witch trials. Dalton, however, is convinced that there must be a rational explanation, while finding that added to this, she has family secrets of her own that refuse to stay buried.
