Writing is, mostly, a solitary business. Collaborations are possible, however, and perhaps the most involving example is co-writing, in which task perhaps the prime guarantee of success is a clear allocation of roles. When it works well it is both useful and fun, though it needs discipline to ensure it is productive and does not become disruptively time-consuming.
