42-Word Story Anthology is to be an anthology of 42 categories, each of 42, 42-word microfiction stories. Yes, each story must be exactly 42 words: a fun opportunity for those who are good at Twitter tales and the shortest flash fiction. The 42-Word Story Anthology will also have 42 art pieces, one per category. Check the list of categories at the website. They range over most genres with a few unusual ones thrown in, but no poetry or non-fiction, and all submissions must have a beginning, middle, and end. ‘Any story that’s well-written has a chance of acceptance. We’ll find a category for your story if you cannot.’
Submit by email; no reprints or sim subs but multiple subs (up to four) are permitted. Be warned though, that the editor is unlikely to select more than one. Email your 42-word story in the body of an email.
The deadline is December 2019 or ‘until filled’. Response time is ‘Hopefully fewer than 42 days’. Payment is a token payment of 42¢ to donate to charity for first serial rights.
