WRITERS’ CIRCLES
SPOTLIGHT ON…
Café Corner Writers
Café Corner Writers is a self-help group which sprang from a WEA course which all nine current members attended at overlapping times, writes Sue Weekes.
We started meeting in – surprise, surprise – the corner of a café, specifically in Bristol’s Colston Hall, although we’ve since moved to the Hatchet pub behind the Bristol Hippodrome, which has a suitably large, round table (a bit like Camelot). We meet about once a month, usually for a couple of hours on a Thursday lunch-time, to share writing we’re doing individually in our own time, writing as part of a taught course, by folk still attending them, and the results of exercises provided by a group member who has been an adult education tutor.
