Surrounding yourself with plants is good for your writing life, says Lynne Hackles
Go green
The days of sitting out in the garden are numbered. Sitting in the park soaking up the sunshine will now become a brisk walk in the park. That’s if you even want to venture out in the cold. Some of us are fine-weather walkers only.
Being outdoors lifts our spirits and the fresh air is good for us. You get a problem with your writing, you go for a walk, think it over and often return with a solution. Researchers tell us that it is the greenery which gives us a positive psychological effect. This is probably why, for many, a walk in the countryside is more uplifting than a walk in the town. The greenery enhances the air quality. (I remember learning that in school.)
