Trijets to nowhere
Dear editor, I have really enjoyed reading your recent articles on trijets and can relate to them, even though my experiences were 'flights to nowhere'!
You mentioned some of the farewells for the Trident. My only flights on 'the gripper' was on G-AWZO, a trip over the West Country and a flypast of Hatfield, its birthplace, a couple of days before retirement. Meanwhile a Tristar, G-BBAJ took part in the Biggin Hill International Air Fair, departing from Manchester and flying a few low circuits and steepish turns, much to the excitement of the 390 passengers! My last DC-10 flight was part of Biman’s farewell tour. It was an interesting trip flying over Wales, and being filmed by a very close-on Cessna twin camera ship.
