”With knife-making, you’re never going to learn it all”
ALEX POLE AND ED HUNT make exquisite handcrafted kitchen knives: Alex (left) is the blacksmith and bladesmith, Ed the knife-maker. From their workshops in Somerset, they turn British steel and orchard wood into knives that last lifetimes.
HOW IT BEGAN Alex: My mum was a jewellery maker in the 1970s and I would sit for hours watching her. I initially went on to make jewellery, but I’ve been a general blacksmith and architectural blacksmith now for 25 years. I love seeing someone use what I’ve made.
