Melissa Talago, 44, from Yorkshire, runs her own marketing company

‘My husband, Chris, 49, works for a global technology company, and is abroad a lot, leaving me alone with our sons, Josh, 13, and Jamie, 11, sometimes for up to a week. So on top of running my own company, working with small businesses to market their brand, I’m taking care of the kids, as well as doing all the household chores, with no one there to share the load. Ask any working mum, but it’s that constant low-level stress of making sure the kids are fed and out the door, coupled with people ringing at all hours, that can really put you on edge and make you feel short-tempered. Even when I try to relax, I’ll hear a ping on my mobile, which I can’t ignore. So I’m always working.
