My vegan week

my diary
Maybe surprisingly, two of the things I have found most difficult about being vegan are not food related – I find the cooking part simple after many years of vegetarianism!
The first has been making decisions about the type of toiletries I use. For me, this is an ecological issue, as well as a vegan one: while looking for vegan products, I try to limit my use of plastics as well as SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) within the products I use. This makes shopping on the high street more problematic. While some companies label their products suitable for vegans (SFV), I worry about the products being packaged in plastic bottles. I am also concerned at the SLS in shampoos and shower gels. Scientific wisdom seems split over SLS – I have decided to avoid it, but I know many people would disagree with my hesitance to use it.
