TWO standard gauge steam locomotive projects for Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, continue to progress at the premises of their respective contractors.
The new-build NER ‘K’ 0-4-0T No. 559 reached a milestone at North Bay Engineering Services, Darlington, on March 28, when the boiler passed its hydraulic test, which used 1600 litres of water. The boiler will be painted prior to delivery to Beamish, where it will be displayed on a flat wagon in the colliery.
