REN HARVIEU
REVEL IN THE DRAMA
BELLA UNION
Having recovered from the frustrations her 2012 debut bequeathed her – and a broken spine! – Harvieu returns at last. With its timeless, studied songwriting, Revel... boasts a cabaret-esque quality: Strange Thing’s a string-adorned, dynamic carnival and Cruel Disguise’s twanging guitars and growling organs confirm its title’s dark dramas. Her rich, empathetic vocal, meanwhile, swoops gracefully from note to note, sometimes playful (the redemptive Tomorrow’s Girl Today) but more often forlorn (the mournful You Don’t Know Me).
