Does Brave require uBlock Origin to block adverts?

Back in Issue 686 (page 57) you said the Brave browser will continue to support extensions such as uBlock Origin after Google switches to
Manifest V3.
However, you’ve also said in the past that uBlock is unnecessary in Brave because the browser’s built-in Shields system blocks adverts. Can you clarify please?

Brave does have its own ad
blocker, but you can also install a third-party extension
such as uBlock Origin if you prefer. As we confirmed in Issue 686, Brave has stated that Google’s switch to Manifest V3 won’t effect the browser’s ability, or that of third-party extensions, to block ads, even though it’s based on Chromium code (see
