Virgin finds ‘dangerous viruses’
I got an email supposedly from Virgin Media saying ‘immediate action’ was required because ‘potentially dangerous viruses’ had been detected. It used the Virgin logo and the spelling was spot on. But it was obviously a scam because since when did Virgin start acting as a security company? It named four viruses that were apparently on my PC and said the only way to disinfect it was to click a purple ‘Activate Protection Now’ button (see an image at www.snipca. com/52992). I am a Virgin customer, so can understand why I was targeted. But it was never going to fool me.
