If you’re upgrading from a monitor that’s smaller than 24in, or looking for a second screen to work with your laptop, the 24in BenQ GW2486TC looks like an attractive option. It doesn’t offer too many advanced features, but it’s designed to be comfortable for people who have to sit at a screen for extended periods, and mostly work in office software and online tools.
An adaptable monitor with eye-care modes for basic Windows work
The technical details hit our expectations for the size and price. The IPS panel has a 1080p resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, with a decent 178-degree viewing angle. In our tests it had an impressive 99-per-cent coverage of the sRGB colour standard. Its 250cd/m2 maximum brightness level won’t be enough in a sunlit room, but it’s fine for office use. Its contrast ratio is only 1300:1, which isn’t ideal for watching movies or playing games, but is sufficient for general Windows use.
