Highland Council off cials have welcomed the £1,800 fine handed down by a sheriff to a Fort William landlord convicted of operating a house in multiple occupation (HMO) without a licence, writes Mark Entwistle.
An HMO is a property in which three or more unrelated adults are residing as their main residence and require to share kitchen, toilet or personal washing facilities.
Harjinder Singh Randhawa, the owner of the first and second floor That at 39 High Street in Fort William, pleaded guilty at the town’s sheriff court last week to the offence and was fined £1,800 by Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald.
