The Winchester Poetry Prize 2019 is open for entries. There is a first prize of £1,000, a second prize of £500 and a third prize of £250. There will also be a special prize for the best poem by a Hampshire poet. Winning and shortlisted poets will be publihsed in a competition anthology, and winners will be invited to read at a prize-giving event at the Winchester Poetry Festival on 12 October. This year’s judge is Helen Mort.
To enter, send original, unpublished poems up to forty lines. The writer’s name must not appear on the manuscript. If the poem is longer than a single page, include the title on both pages.
Enter by email, sending the poems as doc or docx attachments and including your name, contact details, poem titles where you heard about the competition and PayPal transaction details in the body of the email, or by post. Postal entrants should send two copies of each poem and include all their details on a separate sheet.
